Playground Leaders

Project playground leaders have begun work on fundraising events all across the school. Lots of new playground equipment such as basket balls and hula hoops have been added to the equipment shed on the playground. Children all across the year groups seem to be really enjoying this new addition.

Also, movie nights have been held for all the year groups in the school. Funds raised will go towards more equipment for the playground. So far we have raised £200!

The members of the project seem to enjoy taking part and making break times and lunch times more enjoyable for our pupils.

Operation Alleyway

Pupils involved in ‘Operation Alleyway’ have continued to work hard picking up litter and have made remarkable progress in weeding the alleyway outside our school. Posters have been placed along the alleyway informing passers-by of our project and reminding them to dispose of their litter responsibly. Letters have been written to the Council regarding the need for bins and lighting in the alleyway. The pupils have also written to local garden centres requesting a donation of flowers and plants to improve the appearance of the alleyway. In addition, the group have begun building bins and painting bird boxes to place along alleyway.

‘’Operation Alleyway pupils will continue to go out picking up litter and weeding as well as spreading the word about our efforts. We believe that if this enthusiasm continues then the alleyway will look amazingly different!

Project Care Home

Pupils taking part in this project have been visiting local Care homes in Biggleswade, talking to and playing games with the residents. The pupils have gained a valuable insight into the older generations of Biggleswade and have had the opportunity to give something back to the local community, by offering companionship and a friendly ear.

The group feel that the next step is to expand this to the wider community. Watch this space!
